Jutiapa is not the part of Guatemala known for coffee. Young coffee trees can be dubious too. But when your farm in Jutiapa is at altitude and catches favorable Pacific winds, when you harvest cherries from trees planted only three years ago but which you tended with tremendous care and attention, and with just a little luck too (see the photo of the Cuache grown in this lot, a rare double cherry that portends good fortune), you produce noteworthy coffee that bucks all conventional wisdom. Celeste Fumagalli, the proprietor of El Aceituno farm is an incredible young woman and grower. A champion of her community, the environment, and great, innovative coffee, we are thrilled to bring you a nano lot of Pink Bourbon from Finca El Aceituno. Grown on just ten trees, this unique and highly coveted coffee varietal is fully washed and then sun dried. It features some characteristic Central American notes, displaying a decadent chocolate mousse, is balanced by the acidity of apricot and cherry, and is tied together with a round body.
